چکیده

Biomedical adhesives have been found to be an attractive alternative suturing in several circumstances. However, date most of the clinically approved formulations are based on synthetic and highly reactive toxic chemicals. In this work, we aimed combine for first time bioactive properties cationic polysaccharide chitosan its intrinsic electrostatic binding negatively charged tissues with biocompatible compliant enzymatic cross-linking scheme fibrin glue. This synergistic activity led generation a transglutaminase Factor XIII cross-linkable formulation fast gelation kinetics, tunable mechanical properties, antibacterial activity, strong adhesion cartilage.

Enzymatically cross-linked hydrogels and their adhesive strength to biosurfaces.

OBJECTIVES To design an in-situ gelling hydrogel capable of solidifying rapidly under physiologic conditions into a hydrogel capable of adhering tissue surfaces together. DESIGN Multifunctional polymers containing covalently bound peptide substrates of transglutaminase were designed. EXPERIMENTAL VARIABLE Enzyme cross-linked hydrogels were compared with commercial fibrin tissue adhesive. ...

Rheological study of genipin cross-linked chitosan hydrogels.

This paper reports the rheological behavior of chitosan solutions that have been cross-linked with different amounts of genipin, at body temperature and physiological pH. The effect of the cross-linker loading on the rheological properties of hydrogels has been evaluated. The oscillatory time sweep method was used to monitor the dynamic viscoelastic parameters during in situ (i.e., in the rheom...

Silicate cross-linked bio-nanocomposite hydrogels from PEO and chitosan.

The compositions and the multi phase structures of bio-nanocomposite hydrogels made from silicate cross-linked PEO and chitosan are related to some of their physical and biological properties. The gels are injectable and self-healing because the cross-linking is physical and reversible under deformation. The presence of chitosan aggregates affects the viscoelastic properties and reinforces the ...

Chitosan-g-hematin: enzyme-mimicking polymeric catalyst for adhesive hydrogels.

Phenol derivative-containing adhesive hydrogels has been widely recognized as having potential for biomedical applications, but their conventional production methods, utilizing a moderate/strong base, alkaline buffers, the addition of oxidizing agents or the use of enzymes, require alternative approaches to improve their biocompatibility. In this study, we report a polymeric, enzyme-mimetic bio...

The factor XIII V34L polymorphism accelerates thrombin activation of factor XIII and affects cross-linked fibrin structure.

Factor XIII on activation by thrombin cross-links fibrin. A common polymorphism Val to Leu at position 34 in the FXIII A subunit is under investigation as a risk determinant of thrombosis. Because Val34Leu is close to the thrombin cleavage site, the hypothesis that it would alter the function of FXIII was tested. Analysis of FXIII subunit proteolysis by thrombin using sodium dodecyl sulfate-pol...
